What is an Endorsement?
An endorsement is an amendment or modification to an insurance policy that is used add, exclude, or amend coverage. An endorsement may also be referred to as a rider.
With regard to home insurance, endorsements are commonly used to increase the amount of coverage for high-value items that exceed standard policy maximums. Having an endorsement may or may not result in an increased policy premium, depending on the insurance company and the nature of the endorsement. You insurance agent will advise you of any change in premium as a result of changing you coverage via an endorsement.
